The introduction of Tableau to the Retail network provided real-time performance management dashboards, eliminated need of one full time employee (FTE), and established proof of concept on how Tableau would drive data literacy across the organization. To automate this reporting, in 2021 the Data & Analytics team collaborated with Retail Directors to create business rules for the sales of products and services. This was originally a manual process involving an executive assistant taking 10 days and interactions with 25 retail managers to audit employee sales. Tableau Prep provided the agility to map eight different data sources directly to the data warehouse and incorporate the new business rules within calculations. Tableau allowed us to create a single, consistent, and most importantly, accurate source of sales goals data that is updated daily. This single ‘retail sales’ data source enabled the build of interactive dashboards in Tableau Desktop which staff can access any time to easily understand the status of their four sales goals. These dashboards have created excitement and engagement with Tableau, helped more employees reach their goals, and helped accelerate Citadel’s transition to a data driven organization.
